Subject: [EXTERNAL] RE: Benchmark for Radworker Lanyard Card

Here is what I have so far for a very early rough draft, I am thinking 10 on each side of a card (the current 2 min drill card has 12 bullets on the front). Thoughts - feedback?? The yellow highlight are already on the trip ticket, but still pretty important in my opinion

  1. What Radiological Hazards are in the Work Area?
  2. Could the work activity being performing change radiological conditions (Dose Rates and Contamination levels)?
  3. Do RP Technicians understand the scope of my job?
  4. What are the RWP and ALARA Plan Requirements and Hold Points?
  5. What is my dose estimate for this job?
  6. Where is my low dose waiting area?
  7. Does my RWP allow entry into a High Radiation Area?
  8. If entering a High Radiation Area, did I get a specific brief from a RP Technician?
  9. Ensure that HRA doors and swing gates are secured after each use
  10. Can my job create an airborne radioactivity area?
  11. Contact RP Technician to release non-personal items from the RCA
  12. Review Digital Plant Viewer System to review travel path and work area dose rates prior to entering the RCA
  13. Contact RP Prior to going above 7' inside the RCA
  14. If you need to sit/kneel down, ensure you have a barrier between you and the floor
  15. If containers, including bags, are closed, they need to have a RP Survey completed
  16. Only RP Technicians can move radiological postings
  17. If a leak is observed, ensure a drip container is utilized
  18. If working inside a contaminated area, is the area large enough to allow work to be performed without violating a boundary?
  19. What is my vision of excellence for this work activity?
  20. Is there any Radiological Operating Experience for this work activity?

Salem does not have a lanyard card - some of these items are on the trip ticket but am interested in if you need help developing one.

To better explain the need, this is a card that anyone can use to understand RP requirements and expectations for working inside the RCA. This could be something like utilize Low Dose Waiting Areas, RP Technicians are needed to release items from the RCA, Ensure you have the correct brief and RWP for entering HRA/LHRA, etc

All,
I have an action to develop a lanyard card for radworkers to use when performing a 2-min drill in the RCA that focuses on RP practices. Do any of you have anything similar that we could use as a reference?
