Good morning,
Millstone was looking into staffing levels at your sites. In the RP section, we are split up in RP Operations, Cal Lab, Dosimetry and Rad Material Control folks.
Current Numbers
1 Manager
1 Supervising Health Physicist
4 Supervisors
4 Health Physicists
16 RP Operations Technicians
8 RP Tech Support Technicians
3 Labor support/pipeline
We would like to know what your staffing levels are?
* RP technician - 16 total technicians (2 are in training) Org Chart number is 15
* Cal lab - Rotational each week from the 16 above. One working foreman from the 16 technicians that keeps track of the instruments in addition to shift responsibilities.
* Dosimetry - 8 total techs in this group. They also handle all of the environmentals, release permits for the station and count room onsite.
* Rad material / Rad waste - Rad waste is handled by a separate group contained out of operations. 4 personnel in this group. RP is in charge of rad material control on site and will escort packages that meet the criteria. We work with Radwaste to get rid of waste and load selands for disposal.
* Decon staff - Currently there are 3 laborer type staff that handle decon painting and general labor in the RCA (Org chart number is 5) This group is our pipeline for technician level workers based on the contractual agreement with the local labor union.
* ALARA - No permanently assigned technician there is one working foreman that helps with ALARA included in the 16 number from RP technician. One supervisor that has oversight of the ALARA and work planning process.
Any additional work that the RP folks do, e.g., changing lightbulbs, respirator inspection, sump and tank cleaning, lifting and rigging activities, etc.?
RP here is in charge of Respiratory Protection on site as well. One Health Physicist is the program owner and technicians work and certify all of the equipment. This work is handled by the group of 16 technicians above. Decon labor will clean the respirators when they are used.
Our biggest challenge that we have is the amount of RCA sqft we are responsible to cover is >600,000 sqft between the units with multiple control point entrances. So, any help would be appreciated.
We have one dedicated entry point to our RCA. Minimal satellite RCA's.
Thank you,
Erin S Stalnecker
RP Supervisor - ALARA
