[Global] [External] ALARA resources

At Sequoyah, we temp upgrade one technician to ALARA for the outage. This usually happens 2-4 weeks prior to the outage. That technician remains in ALARA for approximately 4 weeks after the outage. This is used as a development opportunity to help broaden our ALARA talent base for future positions. Westinghouse (RFF vendor) brings in an ALARA/Safety person for day shift and night shift during the outage.

We expect high dose online projects to bring in their own ALARA person to aid in developing and tracking ongoing work plans.

I think it is good to give some context to what overall ALARA staffing looks like during an outage. At Davis-Besse we supplement ALARA staff so that we have two planners per shift during outages. We bring in one resource share and one contract resource. Also during outages, Framatome brings one ALARA person because they account for more than 40 percent of our outage dose and they have financial incentives tied to ALARA performance.
For on-line, the only thing we have brought in ALARA planning resources for in the last 8 years is dry fuel storage campaigns. The project will supply one ALARA planner for that work.
