Thank you to all the attendees of the June 2024 RP-ALARA Conference in Portland, Maine!
We had 26 attendees from 19 nuclear facilities across the United States. The conference would not have been such a success without your presence and participation!
Attendees should have received two emails from me: one email with the High Interest Topic sheets and another email with the breakout session summary sheets.
For those of you who didn’t attend, here is a summary of what you missed:
* A presentation detailing how Bob French (Wolf Creek) uses P6 to assign RP resources. This allows his station to anticipate shifts and control points with heavy or light RP resource requirements. This information can be used to reallocate personnel or move activities to accommodate technician availability.
* A presentation from John Hertz (Sequoyah) and Dave Martin (Prairie Island) on their recent 10 Year ISI and Clevis Bolt Replacement projects. They explained the project scopes, challenges encountered, and solutions implemented. This will be helpful for a lot of plants who have similar project scope in the next few years.
* Breakout sessions with similar plant designs to discuss successes, challenges, and golden nugget ideas for improving our RP and ALARA programs.
* Round Table discussions with the entire group of attendees.
* Presentations from more than 20 vendors.
* Two extended presentations from vendors selected by the conference attendees.
* A boat trip to an island for a lobster bake.
Our next conference will be in Key West, FL near the end of January. I will send out more information once we have confirmed a few more details. We hope to see you there!
Thanks,
John Hertz
