Hi Amy,
At Sizewell B (4 loop Westinghouse SNUPPS), we continuously clean up the refuel pool (refuelling cavity filled) during outages and the fuel pool (fuel storage pond) using filters and demineralisers:
* Refuel pool in Containment, 5 micron filters and demineralisers during an outage. Tri-Nuc mobile unit for targeted cleaning e.g. cavity floor after fuel moves (I think the filters are 100 micron, but will check). Skimmers deployed to clean refuel pool surface via the Tri-Nuc.
* Fuel Storage Pond in the Fuel Building, 5 micron filters and demineralisers permanently in service, with skimmers deployed to clean the fuel pool surface. We have a smaller Tri-Nuc available for cleaning.
Also have the new DEKRA VT 1011 underwater vacuum for targeted cleaning, this is mainly for foreign material. Some RP issues with managing the strainer / filter units, ensuring the fuel team handles these like Tri-Nuc filters using remote techniques.
All the best,
Richard

Internal Use Only At Wolf Creek we use one size when vacuuming with the 260 we use a 2 micron ,and for water clarity the 600 we use a 5 micron filter but it depends on water clarity be have used as low as 0.2 micron. Our spent fuel filters during outage are 20 micron and 0.45 mic
