Salem is looking to benchmark industry best practices for establishing emergent dose banks during refuel outages. My questions are:


  1.  Do you allocate a bank of estimated dose to account for emergent dose during refuel outages?  It is not preoceduralized but we have been adding approximately 5% to our refuel budgets for emergent dose.  Last refuel that was 2.6 Rem
     *   If so, how much is it, in Person-Rem?
     *   What percentage of the overall estimate is your bank?


  1.  How much emergent dose do you typically see during a refuel outage, in Person-Rem?  We typically do not see much in the way of emergent dose.  Typically it is scaffold, snubber inspections and the occasional emergent valve or another component.  Last refuel it was less than the 2.6 rem, approximately 1-2 rem on average
     *   What percentage is that of the overall exposure your station sees during a refuel outage?  It accounts for less than 5 percent of the overall dose budget for the refuel typically 2 percent.



  1.  How do you keep track of your emergent dose?  Emergent dose it tracked by RWP.  We write new RWP's for the emergent work and tag the RWPs as emergent with our emergent alara review number.


  1.  Do you use a separate RWP/Task/ALARA Plan for the purposes of tracking emergent dose?  See above
