[Global] Setting your Reactor Head

At Palo Verde, the Reactor Vessel Closure Head is lowered to approximately 18 inches off the Reactor Vessel Flange remotely (Polar Crane Operator and Refuel Mechanical tag lines). All others are restricted from the area. A Reactor Coolant System Engineering inspects the flange and O-Rings seating surface and directs a decontamination technician to clean the flange using a long-handled mop, if necessary. The Polar Crane Operator then sets the head on the reactor vessel flange. We also use cameras to verify alignment.
