[Global] Trip Tickets

At TVA Sequoyah we use printed trip tickets. The trip tickets are color coded for RA (white), HRA (yellow), and LHRA (pink). To accomplish this, our RCA login stations are specifically designated for logging in on RA/HRA/LHRA RWPs. If workers are unable to login on a station with the appropriate colored printer paper, then they are required to fill out an appropriately colored written trip ticket.

A big benefit is that it is a human performance error barrier because it increases worker awareness of the RWP category they are using during the RCA entry process.

One challenge is ensuring that there are enough of the applicable login stations so that you don’t create bottlenecks during outages. A negative is that during the pre-job RWP brief you don’t have workers filling out their trip tickets, which some felt was a useful tool in bolstering worker awareness of RWP setpoints.

If an individual is found to be non-compliant, they are removed from the RCA and coached on the correct process. Further non-compliance may involve RCA exclusion until an interview with the RPM can be done with that individual and their manager.

Good Morning,
Below are a few questions regarding Trip Tickets. Your responses are appreciated.

  1. Is your station utilizing a trip ticket printer when logging into the RCA or do workers fill in the blanks on a trip ticket card?

     * If utilizing a printer, what are the benefits or challenges of using it?

  1. Are you using a different color for High Radiation Areas?
  2. What is your station policy for when an individual is non-compliant (missing, incomplete, incorrect trip ticket)?

Thank You,
Mel
