At Calvert there are a couple of RP folks that are tech savvy that perform IT functions for our department.
We have a RP tech that supports all functions of our Rad Monitoring system which includes the following:

  *   Installation/Demob/maintenance of Rad Monitoring equipment for the outage
  *   Installation and maintaining all Rad Monitoring equipment when plant is online.
  *   Maintaining the Digital plant viewer (survey map viewer)

We have a Rad Engineer that supports the following:

  *   Installation/maintaining/trouble shooting all aspects of Sentinel (i.e., code table, passwords, system configuration)
  *   Installation/ maintaining all RCA Access computers and turnstiles PC's (outage only)
  *   Maintains/creates daily, monthly, and yearly dose reports for the site.
  *   Creates as needed reports utilizing SAP Business Objects, or Crystal Reports.

Of course, these functions are not their primary functions.  Other duties have not been listed.

Harris used to have a dedicated RP IT person. He took another job within the company but outside of nuclear. He was the best resource to have when any issues arose with any of our applications. He used to be an RP tech so he was able to look at everything through an RP perspective. Any Sentinel, VSDS, Milestone, practically any applications RP would use on computer he would support. Also, helped with the daily POD report as well as reports to run for planning efficiency.

  At the winter meeting discussions we touched on this subject a time or two.  Whom out there utilizes an IT based person within or strongly connected to the RP department?

    What items do you have or would you have this person address?

     I am evaluating this idea for improvements in " Maximo\alfresco integration, enhancing VSDS and streamlining our internal records and processes to include the onboarding of sentinel.  This person would approach applications from an RP perspective.

What are your thoughts?
