Good morning Team:
DCPP responds to the below questions as follows:
1. Is there a frequency in which Engineering performs this?
* Boric-acid walkdowns occur at least semi-annually. Normally, a member of the In-service inspection (ISI) group performs walkdowns of the Auxiliary Building or the Containment.
2. Do they take someone from the FIN team or Mechanical with them to perform any cleaning?
* ISI does not normally take someone from FIN or mechanical with them. They perform the walkdowns and then report any deficiencies for correction via notification for dry boric acid leaks. If applicable, they will elevate the reporting for faster correction.
* These deficiencies are then forwarded to one of two groups: RP for clean-only tasks or Mechanical for clean-adjustment tasks.
* During start-up following outages, ISI will have FIN or mechanical accompany them during their close-out inspections to quickly correct any observed deficiencies.
3. How are components identified for future walk downs? Flagging, located on drawings, etc.
* Deficient components are tagged and tracked by our SAP system.
4. Are there markings in your Containment (or Drywell) that help to readily identify the area to be inspected? Such as an azimuth painted on the outer wall or other markings.
* Yes. ISI tracks the location of inspections by azimuth indications, as well as, engineering maps.
5. How do you ensure these inspections are performed ALARA?
* Inspections are assigned historical estimates unless ISI reports any additional checks. ISI tracks their own dose and reports any potential issues that could cause them to deviate from assigned estimates.
* Estimates for clean-only tasks are by location, estimated time, and number of people assigned for work.
