  1. Do you perform Reactor Cavity Decon with House Personnel? Contractors assigned to plant laborer group If not, who do you contract with to perform the work?
  2. Do you hydrolase the walls or cavity floor pressure wash (with heated pressure washer) and squeegie
If you do, what areas do you hydrolase? Briefly describe.__
Upper Cavity: Floor, rust ring, & as high as can be reached up the walls without spraying upwards. Second jump (post head set) alconox walls/floor, wipe walls (wet, dry, wet), mop floor (wet/dry/wet).
Lower Cavity: pressure wash & squeegee same as upper cavity then spray alconox. Buff floor/doodle bug walls & stand legs, pressure wash & squeegee again.
All water/crud gets washed into transfer canal (~4’ below equipment pit floor)
To what contamination levels do you strive to achieve? Upper Cavity: <50k, Lower Cavity: <100k

  1. What deconning agents if any, do you use on the walls and /or floor? Alconox & spray n wipe
  2. Which types of materials/chemicals do you decon with? __X__mops
___X_____rags ___X____ Scrub Pads__________ Hydrogen Peroxide
____X____high pressure washing _____FLOOR BUFFER______other, describe

  1. Do you use any robotics to perform decon of the cavity? NONE
If so, what type

  1. Generally, how long does it take to decon the cavity? Time from initial RP survey to the time in which refueling re-enters the cavity ~15 minutes for initial washdown, 60-120 minutes for second cavity decon
  2. Are other groups working in the cavity in parallel with the decon crew? None
If so, briefly describe

  1. Estimate the amount of exposure in mRem that it takes to decon the Reactor Cavity?
___X____100-500 _____500-750 _____>750 mRem

  1. What recent changes have you made to decrease the time required to decon the cavity and/or reduce the exposure that it takes to achieve your decon goal?
  2. Do you have a detailed procedure for this activity? If so, would you consider providing a copy for us to review? We did have a procedure, but it was deleted in order to allow for deviations (not our choice). So we have a job aide/decon script that we wrote (attached).
